Tiger King: Joe Exotic has been released from solitary confinement

Joe Exotic is serving a long prison sentence. Thanks to a fan petition, he has now been released from solitary confinement.

Joseph Maldonado-Passage (57), better known under his pseudonym Joe Exotic, is no longer in solitary confinement. The man who caused worldwide attention through the Netflix documentary "Tiger King" (German title: "Big cats and their predators") and has polarized since then is currently serving a 22-year sentence in Texas for attempted murder, among other things. His own efforts to get embarrassed because of physical and psychological problems have so far failed, but now a campaign of his fans has been released from solitary confinement.

"Joe Exotic was released from solitary confinement," said a statement from his Instagram account. "He now has a room with a sick bed and a window." The reason for the relocation is apparently a petition from his fans. More than 2,000 people had asked in open letters for release from solitary confinement, as another post says. "Joe is out of isolation and is getting the help he needs because of YOU!" Exotic, according to his husband Dillon Passage, has some kind of autoimmune disease, which is why he needs better treatment in prison. The American is said to currently be located in Fort Worth FMC, a medical center operated by the Federal Office for Prisons. Joe Exotic was transferred to the Fort Worth, Texas prison facility in early April for fear of the corona pandemic.
