At 46 and after a car accident in February 2021 which almost cost him his right leg, Tiger Woods was able to fulfill his recovery objective and play the 150th British Open on the historic Saint Andrews course. But the latter did not welcome him with open arms: after a first card of +6 on Thursday, the man with 15 Majors – including three British Opens, two of which were won at Saint Andrews – returned a final card of +3, for + 9 in total. It will be very clearly above the cut.
He finished what may be his last run on the Old Course on a par after puttingting for an eagle and missing the birdie on a comma.
Disappointed, his head down and his face serious, he passed one last time, at least for this tournament, in front of the porch of the Royal and Ancient, the building that houses the body that governs the rules of golf (except in the United States and in Mexico submitted to the American organ USGA).
