The application will allow certain creators to produce videos with a longer format. Which could allow TikTok to compete with the largest video platforms.
The Chinese giant continues to innovate, despite the problems encountered all over the world, and particularly in the United States. The platform originally became known for its very short videos, less than a minute long, the format of which was slightly lengthened a few years ago, this time limiting it to three minutes. A decision that was still nothing compared to the big bang that seems to be brewing at TikTok today!
TikTok moves to 60-minute format
Things are moving within TikTok. We learn this way thanks to TechCrunch that a certain number of its users have just obtained the right to upload videos which could last up to 60 minutes. This is 20 times more than what is done on average on the platform.
“ This feature is available to a limited group of users in certain markets, and TikTok says it has no immediate plans to make it widespread »said the same source.
Compete with YouTube?
With this new feature, TikTok claims to respond to a demand from creators, who want to be able to develop videos that require more time, such as beauty tutorials or cooking recipe demonstrations. With this function, it will be easier to keep the audience for creators, who will not have to divide their production into several parts.
For the moment, it seems that the application wants to do more of a test, surely with the objective of observing whether the public follows or not. And if this were the case, it is possible that the functionality would become widespread, with the idea of becoming a credible competitor to what is the undisputed world number 1 platform in the sector, namely YouTube. Should Alphabet teams start fearing TikTok?
