TikTok is introducing a new way for creators to get paid for their content.

The major platforms are snapping up content creators. And to attract the best, the solution is simple: offer them a bigger budget. YouTube thus launched the offensive last September, by offering to share advertising revenue on the Shorts. TikTok could not therefore remain unanswered. Today, we learn more about his counter-attack.

Say hello to Series

How to make money on TikTok? This is a question that many video authors ask themselves on the most popular platform in recent years. A question that the social network could not leave unanswered, while YouTube wants to cut cruppers with its Shorts format.

This is the reason why TikTok today announces the creation of a new feature, called “Series”. It will not only allow creators to produce videos that can be twice as long, and reach 20 minutes, but also to impose a paywall on videos integrated into Series.

It will therefore not be possible to have free access to the videos included in a “Series”, each collection of which may include up to 80 videos. These will only be available after a one-time payment, the price of which, ranging from $0.99 to $189.99, will be decided by the creator.

Everything for creators… for now

Freedom is thus left to tiktokeurs to find the price that “ best reflects the value of their content “. And the feature could help creators and address criticisms made about monetization within the network all the more that, “ for a limited time », all the income generated by the videos will be donated to their producer. A way also to taunt YouTube, of which only 45% of the income from the Shorts is distributed to youtubeurs.

But obviously, the popularity of Series will be related to what the public is willing to pay to watch videos that they are used to watching for free. In any case, the deployment of this option will be done gradually in the months to come. At the moment, only a few creators can offer exclusive content like this.
