TikTok will penalize creators who publish potentially “problematic” content. The application is also reviewing its rules regarding recommended content in the “For You” section.

According to Bytedance, more than 21.4 million French people, and more than 150 million Europeans, go to TikTok every month. So many users who enjoy videos from their favorite creators, but to whom the in-house algorithm also offers recommended content.

  • Easy interactions
  • Engaging social network
  • Very entertaining

TikTok is a social media app primarily focused on creating and sharing short videos. TikTok has quickly become popular with a wide audience, especially among young people. The application allows users to create videos of up to 3 minutes, often characterized by music, lip-syncing, dancing, comedy skits, and other forms of expressive performances.

TikTok wants to better filter its “For You” section

The new policy put in place by TikTok will notably make it possible to make an entire account temporarily ineligible for recommendation in the “For You” feed, if a creator repeatedly publishes content that goes against the rules.

Their account and content will then be more difficult to find in search engines. “ We will notify creators when their account has been restricted in this way, and they can appeal », Indicates TikTok.

Rules that meet zero tolerance (e.g. incitement to violence) will not be appealable, and accounts will be banned immediately.

A tool to check your account status and a code of conduct

For their part, creators will be able to check the status of their account more easily thanks to the launch of the “Account Verification” function. Enough to allow a user to audit their account and the last 30 messages, and see at a glance whether they are in good standing on TikTok (as is already the case on Instagram).

Account verification will also include information whether access to certain features, such as comments or direct messaging, has been restricted due to violations.

TikTok is also releasing a new Creator Code of Conduct, which will come into effect in the coming weeks. These are standards that creators participating in TikTok’s programs, features, events and campaigns, both on and off the platform, must adhere to, in addition to Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

Note that starting at the end of April, TikTok will offer a new content feed dedicated to science, technology, engineering and mathematics. This STEM thread will exclusively highlight educational content based on these 4 themes in order to discover and learn, in a different way!

This content will be verified by Common Sense Networks and Poynter Institute, in order to guarantee (as much as possible) quality videos.
