Many “Toy Story” fans have been waiting for this: Tim Allen is back in the fifth part as voice actor for Buzz Lightyear.

Just a few days ago Disney announced a sequel to the successful animation series “Toy Story”. It has already been decided who will voice the character Buzz Lightyear in the fifth film. Again Tim Allen (69) lends his voice to the Space Ranger. The actor has been the speaker since 1995, with one exception last year.

The news announced Allen personally on his Twitter channel. “See you soon, Woody,” he addressed the main character, cowboy sheriff Woody, in his tweet. “You are a sad, strange little man and you have my pity,” he added. He also captioned the picture of Buzz Lightyear: “Let’s go to number 5! To infinity and beyond!”

Criticism of Chris Evans’ dubbing

Fans and critics should be happy about the return of Tim Allen. The 2022 spin-off “Lightyear” with Chris Evans (41) in the role of speaker became a flop – not least because of Allen’s absence. Actress Patricia Heaton (64) brought the general mood in a tweet in a nutshell: “Disney/Pixar made a huge mistake by not casting my friend Tim Allen. Tim Allen in the role he invented, in the role that’s his. Tim IS buzz! Why would they completely neuter the iconic, beloved character?”

Four “Toy Story” films have been released so far. The debut in 1995 was followed by “Toy Story 2” (1999) and “Toy Story 3” (2010) as well as “A Toy Story: Everything obeys no command” (2019). The latter grossed over $1 billion at the box office. The spin-off “Lightyear” (2022) was less successful.
