Tim Mälzer will be 50 years old in January. However, because of the pandemic, there won't be a big celebration. He hopes that he can make up for this.

Tim Mälzer (49, "Heimat") is about to celebrate a milestone birthday. The chef and author, who is also known from numerous TV formats, will be 50 years old on January 22nd. But it shouldn't be celebrated. "My birthday will not take place in January," explains Mälzer of "Bild am Sonntag".

Although the government "failed catastrophically" in dealing with the catering industry, the chef was generally optimistic. Mälzer's "Bullerei" in Hamburg is also affected by the lockdown. After the restaurant was able to reopen a few weeks ago after a renovation, it had to be closed again shortly afterwards due to the lockdown.

Collect new ideas

A delivery service was set up and a mail order business was also set up. At the moment the store is very tight until at least the beginning of January. You have to relax a little first, is explained on the website of the restaurant. In addition, you want to work on "new ideas" meanwhile.

Mälzer doesn't seem to have lost his sense of humor in all this. About his birthday, he said to the paper: "I'm speculating on the possibility of holding an open-air event when the weather is better. The Queen does that too."
