The Pokémon community on Reddit has been passionate about an intriguing theory: what if Pokémon Scarlet and Purple allow us to discover Pokémon from the past and the future?
On June 1, 2022, Game Freak unveiled the second trailer for Pokémon Scarlet and Purple to the world. In just 3 minutes of video, the most attentive eyes have been able to spot a lot of information and clues about this new opus of pocket monsters planned for the end of the year.
Between the multiplayer system, the music of the creator of Undertale or the explosion of popularity of Gourmelet, the web was full of passionate discussions between the trainers.
However, it took a few days for an exciting theory to spread from Reddit. What if the regional forms in this new game were actually time-traveling Pokémon?
Will Pokémon Scarlet and Purple take Pokémon back in time?
The second trailer for these new Pokémon games clearly announced the theme that will be offered to players: time.
From the first seconds of the video, we can indeed spot a kind of highly technological building that contrasts with the more rural and ancient aspect of the universe. It is also the two NPCs Olim and Turum who put us on the alert, the first wearing animal skins while the second is dressed in a futuristic suit.
Finally, icing on the cake: the legendaries! Koraidon has a rather primitive look, where Miraidon seems made of steel and high-tech materials.
Quickly, the trainers began to think about the impact that these anachronisms could have on the experience of the trainers. And if there is one element that many hope to see inspired by this thematic particularity, it is that of regional forms.
Indeed, Reddit user Momo1122 speculated that each regional form of this new region could in fact be a Pokémon already known, but from the distant past or, conversely, from the distant future.

- Aegiside (medieval version)”
Raikou, Entei and Suicune: the perfect legendary Pokémon for a new form?
Since the three legendary birds were given a form of Galar in Generation 8 of Pokémon, Internet users naturally looked for what other iconic monsters could be entitled to similar treatment in this new generation.
Quickly, a theory seems to have conquered many trainers: the great return of Raikou, Entei and Suicune.
First, they form the trio of legendary beasts of the second generation. After revisiting the trio of birds, it would seem perfectly consistent that Game Freak looked to the next generation.
Nevertheless, the most interesting argument is hidden in the lore of Pokémon. By delving into the history of the legendary beasts, we see that they did not always have the shape we know them today. Indeed, Raikou, Entei and Suicune died during a terrible thunderstorm that struck and burned down the Copper Tower (henceforth called Cinder Tower). It is by noting the disaster that the legendary bird Oh-Ho resuscitated the 3 beasts, granting them powerful powers.
If the forms of this new region are indeed based on the alteration of time, one could thus imagine discovering Raikou, Entei and Suicune in their original form, before the latter succumb in the flames of the Ashen Tower.
