Tina Turner: PP Arnold is not the only one to have been abused by her ex-husband, Ike Turner
Ex-husband of Tina Turner, Ike Turner died in 2007. The couple marked the history of the blues in the 60s and 70s. If their talent is beyond reproach, behind the scenes is traumatic to say the least. The PP Arnold revelations are not the only testimonies of violence of Ike Turner in his lifetime. Tina Turner also shared her bad experience with her ex-husband, with whom she was married for more than 16 years. In his autobiography titled My Love Storypublished in October 2019 by Century editions, the singer with a deep voice says that her husband “was first verbally abusive“.
Then came blows with a wooden shoe tree. “As he played the guitar, he didn’t want to use his hands to hit me” Tina Turner, 82, recalled in her book. The singer continues that their story “was a parody of a normal relationship, defined by abuse and fear, without love or affection“. The memory of these traumatic moments would have accompanied the artist throughout his career, without her being able to talk about it until now.
