In a documentary, Tina Turner looks back on her career and her life. Is it a final farewell to the fans?
Superstar Tina Turner (81, "Simply the Best") apparently wants to say goodbye to the fans with a new documentary. The legendary singer could spend the rest of her life away from the limelight. The 81-year-old struggled with various serious illnesses in the past few years, she had cancer, a stroke and needed a kidney transplant.
According to the "Sun", the singer wants to use the film "Tina", which runs in the USA at the end of March, to say goodbye to fans worldwide. It should be a "conclusion", they say. In retrospect, Tina Turner says in the documentary: "It was not a good life. The good did not make up for the bad. I had an abusive life, there is no other way to tell the story. It is a reality. It is one Truth. That's what you have, so you have to accept it. "
"I hated Ike for a long time"
Turner tells the Sun about her marriage to Ike Turner (1931-2007): "I hated Ike for a long time, I have to say that. But then after he died I really realized he was a sick person . He moved me forward and he was good to me in the beginning. So I have some good thoughts. Maybe it was a good thing that I met him that I don't recognize. " According to the singer, it hurts "to have to remember these times, but at a certain stage forgiveness takes over, forgiveness means not having to hold on". Tina Turner, then Anna Mae Bullock, was 19 years old when she met Ike Turner. She married the musician in 1962 in Tijuana, Mexico. Ike Turner became violent during the relationship. Their coexistence was defined "by abuse and fear", she wrote in her autobiography "My Love Story". In 1976 Tina Turner left Ike. In the mid-80s she met her current husband Erwin Bach (65). The couple, who live in Switzerland, got married in 2013.
