The editor Microids has more than one card up its sleeve, with various comic book-inspired games in development. We will thus find a famous duo of Gauls this autumn in Asterix & Obelix XXXL – The Aries of Hiberniabut it is not him who is talking about him at the beginning of the week of gamescom. No, it’s a vaguely announced project in 2020 around the license Tintin that we now discover througha first teaser trailer and who will therefore be called Tintin Reporter – Cigars of the Pharaoh.
Unsurprisingly with such a title, it is therefore a plot based on Hergé’s comic strip that will be offered to us in 2023 by the Spaniards Pendulum Studios on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC. If the press release doesn’t tell us much more about it except that it will be faithful to the original work, the first visuals outside the video are much more telling by showing us the rendering of Tintin, Snowy and the teacher siclone.
Inspired by an iconic adventure from the series of “The Adventures of Tintin” albums created by Hergé and sold over 275 million copies worldwide, this new video game marks the return of the famous reporter with a puff in the world of interactive entertainment thanks to a dynamic co-production between Moulinsart and Microids.
Tintin and his faithful companion Snowy are going to live extraordinary adventures… After meeting Professor Siclone during a crossing of the Mediterranean, the famous reporter sets out in search of the tomb of the pharaoh Kih-Oskh. But what dark secret does it hold? From Egypt to India, via Arabia, Tintin and Snowy will have to investigate a drug case in the East.
This adventure game will immerse the player in the captivating universe of the album by leading him beyond the box in the footsteps of Tintin and Snowy and allowing him to transform into a real action hero. Designed in a neat graphic environment and faithful to the drawing of Tintin’s father, this game is a jubilant and interactive adaptation of the story imagined by Hergé.
In addition, representatives of Microids and Moulinsart took the floor to celebrate this announcement.
