The video streaming platform shook the Cupertino company. In effect, netflix joined Spotify in its move and removed the opt-in option from its iOS app. The reason for this blockage? Fees charged by Apple to app developers.
Therefore, when launching the application, the user therefore had access only to the connection button and to an error message specifying that registrations were not supported by the application. There was also no mention that users could register via the Netflix site, Apple banishing this practice. A situation that can disorient a large number of potential new subscribers.
Common ground was found between the two firms
A solution has been found since the Apple brand now allows “reading applications” to display an external payment button for their subscriptions. To be eligible, the application must offer the reading of audio or video content, press articles, etc. A condition fulfilled by Netflix.
The button to register has thus made a comeback on iOS, thereby allowing new users to subscribe thanks to a redirection from the application to the Netflix payment page.
On the other hand, Apple wishes to clear itself of any problem inherent in these payments, as underlined by the message displayed during this redirection: “ Any account or purchase made outside of this app will be managed by the “Netflix” developer. Your App Store account, saved payment methods, and related features, such as subscription management and refund requests, will not be available. Apple is not responsible for the privacy or security of any transactions with this developer. »
A standoff that will certainly give ideas to other application creators.

- The most complete on the market
- Often excellent original series
- Impeccable video compression
The American service is not the most popular in the world for nothing. With an offer of content enriched each week, an always optimal video quality and a very worked user experience, the platform is an essential choice for entertainment. Our only regret remains the constant increase in subscription prices, which makes the service a little less attractive than when it was launched… Fortunately, the number of series and films compensates for this increase.
