According to the US Coast Guard, the debris found near the Titanic wreck belongs to the missing Titan submersible.
That said John Mauger of the US Coast Guard in Boston.
The operator of the missing Titan submersible, Oceangate, assumes that the crew died, as she writes in a statement.
A debris field was discovered during the search work, the US Coast Guard had previously written on Twitter.
An expert in ship salvage is certain that the debris discovered came from the missing vessel. Expert David Mearns told the BBC and Sky News broadcasters that the so-called landing frame and the rear cover of the submersible could be seen. He referred to statements made by the president of the “Explorers Club” in a Whatsapp group. Researchers are united in the association, and two “Titan” inmates are also members. His statement could not be independently confirmed.
The submersible with five people on board was on a dive to the wreck of the Titanic on Sunday when contact was lost. According to operator OceanGate Expeditions, oxygen was available for 96 hours.
Experts have said any rescue operation at the bottom of the ocean more than three kilometers deep would pose immense technical problems.
