To boost tourism: Free Bali vacation for 4,400 influencers

Despite the increasing number of corona cases, Bali wants to attract tourists again with the help of influencers. From October to November they should travel for free on the island and report on their experiences on social media as part of the campaign entitled “We love Bali”, said the local tourism authority. Foreign visitors are not expected to be allowed to enter Indonesia until the end of the year.

The corona pandemic has hit Bali's tourism industry hard. Around 75,000 people working in the sector have been laid off or on leave there. Since the end of July, visitors from other parts of Indonesia have been able to travel to Bali again. Plans that would also open up to foreign tourists were put on hold in mid-September after an increase in corona cases.

As of Wednesday, there were more than 8,100 cases of infection on the island, 236 people died with the virus. In the Southeast Asian country with around 267 million inhabitants, the number of confirmed corona cases rose by around 4,100 to almost 253,000 on Wednesday, according to the World Health Organization, around 9,900 infected people died.
