To see at the cinema: Wild Hunt with Didier Bourdon… A comedy inspired by the famous sketch of Les Inconnus?

Hunting, a comedy by Didier Bourdon, Hakim Jemili and Camille Lou, hit theaters on December 20. Is the film inspired by the famous sketch of Les Inconnus: Les Chasseurs?

“What’s the difference between a good hunter and a bad hunter?” 32 years after trying to answer this question in an emblematic sketch of Les Inconnus, Didier Bourdon plays a clumsy and good-natured hunter in Chasse gardee!

Directed by Antonin Fourlon and Frédéric Forestier, the comedy takes us to a village without history. In the heart of this magnificent region, a dream house surrounded by nature is for sale. For Simon and Adelaide, cramped in their Parisian apartment with their two children, it is the ideal opportunity to take the plunge and leave the hell of the city.

But the dream quickly turns into a nightmare when they realize that their friendly neighbors are using their garden… as a hunting ground! Between neighbors, war is declared and all (low) blows are allowed!

A comedy based on the sketch from Inconnus?

And no, Hunting is not the film adaptation of the famous sketch from Les Inconnus! If the film’s team of broken arms and the presence of Didier Bourdon are undoubtedly reminiscent of this cult number of the comic trio, the filmmakers did not draw their inspiration from the hunters played by Les Inconnus. Antonin Fourlon and Frédéric Forestier had the idea of this migration of a Parisian couple and their children to the countryside during confinement.

“I actually wrote this story during the confinement that I spent with my two young children, in sixty square meters in Paris. I wanted wide open spaces, I fantasized about moving into this house that I was describing. Around me, many friends were leaving. Already, before confinement, a good number of Parisians were reaching saturation point in all respects. This only accentuated things.”explains Antonin Fourlon.

Furthermore, Didier Bourdon hesitated for a long time before accepting the role of Bernard, precisely because of this famous sketch from 1991. “I wanted to distance myself from it, I wanted the film to be more in line with what this sketch was. There are not only good hunters but there are not only bad hunters either. Everything is a matter of good practice.confides the actor.

The actor still imagined a nod to the sketch in Chasse gardee. He thought it came at the right time with the presence of this hunter who kills limitless game that we commonly call a meatman. “It was also a way of showing the difference between our group of hunters who are not completely white-white but for whom this practice is above all a social bond and those who eliminate without respecting anything.”

“Instinctively, we went towards him. And Didier wasn’t fooled. It’s a sketch that made history, which was and still is widely watched because it was able to appeal to several generations. Didier obviously wanted to “to detach himself from it even if he couldn’t resist winking at it. What he liked was the complexity of the character, his authenticity, his evolution”justifies the directors.

Didier Bourdon against the Parisians

In Hunting, Didier Bourdon plays Bernard, the leader of a troop of crazy and clumsy hunters. The latter will make life difficult for a Parisian couple in search of tranquility in the countryside. For the characters of Simon and Adelaïde, Antonin Fourlon and Frédéric Forestier chose Camille Lou and Hakim Jemili: “I did some tests with Hakim for another film and I found him fantastic. He has a fairly wide acting range”indicates Frédéric Forestier.

“We really liked Camille’s freshness and candor when we saw her on television or in the cinema. This was verified when we met her. She is incredibly expressive. She shines. In the script, Adelaide was described as a fighting woman and Simon as a slightly more temperate and winnowing husband. Camille and Hakim matched them perfectly.”underlines the director.

Guarded Hunt was released in theaters on December 20.
