Jana Pareigis will soon be joining the “heute” news team on ZDF. She succeeds Petra Gerster, who has retired.

On May 26th, Petra Gerster (66) retired with her last “heute” broadcast on ZDF. The journalist and presenter has been running a total of 3,661 issues since 1998. Her successor will be Jana Pareigis (39), who will moderate the “heute” news at 7pm from July, as announced by ZDF.

Known from the midday and morning magazine

Pareigis will lead through the show alternating with Christian Sievers (52) and Barbara Hahlweg (52). The presenter and journalist, who was born in Hamburg in 1981, is a familiar face for ZDF viewers – among other things as the main presenter of the “ZDF-Mittagsmagazin”, where she will continue to be seen for several weeks a year. Before that she worked as a reporter, presenter and editor for the “ZDF-Morgenmagazin”. Pareigis has been with the station since 2014.
