“Today Show”: Awards and concept
The “heute-show” was launched back in 2009 and focuses on news topics of the week. The comedy show is hosted by anchorman Oliver Welke. ZDF broadcasts around 37 episodes per year. The “heute-show” has already been awarded the German Grimme Prize and the Bambi several times.
The concept of the show is based on the US format “The Daily Show”. Welke records current political events and reports on the actual events in his own unique way. He repeatedly receives support from German comedians, sometimes in the form of alleged “live broadcasts” to the location of the action. Not only politicians, but also entire parties and legal reforms are targeted.
