Togg, a Turkish manufacturer backed by the government and the Union of Chambers and Stock Exchange of Turkey (TOBB), will launch its first electric vehicle, the T10X, in its domestic market in the second quarter of 2023. Exports to markets in Western Europe are expected to start by the end of 2024.
Prices start at €47,500 for the entry-level model. Customers will have a choice of two battery sizes and two trim levels. A more powerful all-wheel-drive version will be offered in Turkey at the end of October 2023.
The 160 kW (218 hp) rear-wheel-drive model will be available from launch in an entry-level finish (V1) and a more luxurious one (V2). Both of these specification levels will be available with a 52.4 kWh battery offering a range of 314 km (WLTP) and energy consumption rated at 16.7 kWh/100 km. The V2 model will also be available with a larger capacity battery, 88.5 kWh, for a range of 523 km (WLTP), with consumption rated at 16.9 kWh/100 km.
The T10X has a charging capacity of up to 150kW, allowing the smallest battery to go from 20% to 80% in less than 30 minutes with a DC charger.
If, on the outside, the silhouette is massive and the design rather classic (although produced in collaboration with Pininfarina), more interesting work seems to have been done in the cabin, especially in terms of interfaces. In addition to a 12-inch on-board instrumentation, the central touch screen is based on a 29-inch slab. The manufacturer announces that the multimedia interface runs on Snapdragon and that 4G connectivity and wifi hotspot are included.
A priori, an application suite called Trumore makes it possible to manage navigation, the companion application or even voice control. In addition to the comfort and safety equipment found on the top-of-the-range models in this C segment, the manufacturer is announcing a “rush hour pilot” function allowing users to take their hands off the steering wheel in traffic jams until 15 km/h and leave the controls to the T10X. This functionality will be activated in 2023 via OTA updates on vehicles with V2 finish receiving a specific launch pack.
In addition, the T10X will be equipped, depending on the finishes, with an automatic electric tailgate, heated windscreen, adaptive cruise control, panoramic camera, blind spot assistance, driver attention assist, traffic alert, front distance keeping assist and automatic park assist.
Another interesting point, the Togg T10X has a platform entirely dedicated to electric, with independent MacPherson struts at the front and independent multi-link suspension at the rear, which, if the adjustment between running gear and suspensions is correctly made, could augur a good handling. In any case, we are very curious to slip behind the wheel of this new challenger from Anatolia.
