Tolino Vision 6 in review

Faster CPU, twice the memory and a USB-C port – that’s what the new version of the Tolino Vision offers.

With an e-book reader, you can take books with you on vacation, buy refills at any time and, thanks to the e-ink display, read comfortably even in sunlight. These are just three reasons that speak in favor of such a reader – and therefore also in favor of the Tolino Vision 6.

Externally, the new reader from the Tolino alliance of several German booksellers is practically the same as its predecessor, but the faster processor, double the storage space and the USB-C socket are new.

But more important than technical details is the handling, especially for less tech-savvy bookworms – i.e. handling and operation, the purchase of books, the battery life and last but not least the device shape and feel. The manufacturer has done most things right here: The reader reacts smoothly to inputs via the touchscreen, the two mechanical buttons for scrolling keep the display clean, book purchases and reading progress are automatically synchronized via the cloud.

The battery lasts for weeks because you only need the display lighting in the dark, and thanks to the grip bar, the Vision 6 is easy to hold for long periods of time.

It is incomprehensible that borrowing e-books from public libraries – after all, the unique selling point compared to Amazon’s Kindle devices – is so cumbersome to use. The Onleihe app for smartphones does this much more conveniently.

Conclusion

The Tolino Vision 6 is a very good e-book reader with many convenience functions. Only the eLibrary function needs a lot of improvement.
