Are you wondering how production was able to let Tom Cruise run around the facade of the Burj Khalifa in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”? He left them no choice.

A distinguished actor capable of excelling in all fields, Tom Cruise surpasses most of his peers in a very particular field: that of stunts.

Indeed, for many years, and in particular thanks to the multiple adventures of agent Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible saga, the Hollywood star has made it a point of honor to remain on the front line, without resorting to an understudy.

This is how, over the years, we have been able to see him slalom between mountains at the controls of a helicopter, cling to the wing of a plane in mid-flight, jump on a motorbike from a dizzying cliff …and climb the facade of the Burj Khalifa, one of the most imposing skyscrapers in the world located in Dubai.

“How could this have happened?”

By discovering these completely crazy sequences on screen, one might be tempted to wonder how the production of the feature films in question could have let the actor take such risks. This is Matt Damon, recently interviewed by Bingewho gave us the answer to this question by recounting a dinner shared with Tom Cruise a few years ago.

“I remember having dinner with him one day, he had just done the stunt where he ran all around a building [ndlr : celle du Burj Khalifa, dans Mission: Impossible – Protocole fantôme]explained Matt Damon. “And I asked him: ‘Can you tell me how this could have happened?'”

“I found a new security manager.”

Between two bursts of laughter, undoubtedly triggered by his astonishment at Tom Cruise’s story, Matt Damon then reported the latter’s words:

“He’s a really passionate guy, he told me: ‘Yes, I’ll tell you! (…) I have been thinking about this plan for 15 years. So I went to the security manager and explained everything to him. He told me we couldn’t do that, it was too dangerous. (…). So I found a new security manager.'”

If you were wondering how the production of Mission: Impossible agreed to follow Tom Cruise in all his adventures, you now have the answer: he doesn’t always give them a choice!
