Tom Parker: The Wanted Singer fights brain cancer

At the age of only 32, Tom Parker had to announce that he had been found to have a brain tumor. He shows himself combative.

It is terrible news for the young family of British singer Tom Parker, 32. A member of the boy band The Wanted ("Heart Vacancy") was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Parker explains this after several weeks of abstinence from social media on Instagram. "There is no easy way to say this, but unfortunately I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and I am already being treated," explains the Englishman.

Instead of fighting the disease in secret, he and his wife Kelsey Hardwick decided to go public with it. One is devastated, but he wants to fight, writes Parker. "We don't want you to be concerned, we just want love and a positive attitude," with which he and his fans want to draw attention to the disease and to search for all conceivable treatment methods. It will be a difficult fight, "but with the love and support of everyone we will conquer (the tumor)".

"It doesn't feel real"

Even weeks after the diagnosis, he is still completely in shock, as he explains in an interview with the British "OK!" Magazine. "It still doesn't feel real," says his wife. The situation is "appalling. Watching your partner get through this is tough (…)." Sometimes she takes his smartphone away from him, so that he doesn't constantly search Google for his illness and thus fall into a hole.

It wasn't until the summer that Parker and his wife announced that they were expecting a second child. It'll be a boy. Their first child, daughter Aurelia, was born in 2019. He has been married to Hardwick since 2018.
