Tom Selleck: He still bears his trademark today

In addition to the late actor Burt Reynolds (1936-2018), he is the other big (1.93 meters) US star who made the dark mustache – also called mustache – popular and at the same time a trademark: Tom Selleck. The artist, who was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1945, still sticks to his style. However, he took off the Hawaiian shirts with which he became a star in the cult series "Magnum" (1980-1988). Selleck is celebrating its 75th birthday today (Wednesday, January 29).

Investigator, father and lover

After making a name for himself as a smart private investigator Thomas Magnum and having won numerous awards – including Emmy and Golden Globe – Selleck consolidated his reputation as a charming swarm of women with film comedies such as "Another Three Men, Another Baby" (1987) or "Three Men and a little lady "(1990). Also in the hit series "Friends" (1994-2004), he appeared in ten episodes between 1996 and 2000 in a recurring role. He played as Dr. Richard Burke an ex-boyfriend of Monica Geller (Courteney Cox, 55) and friend of her parents.

Selleck has appeared in the title role of the television film series "Jesse Stone" since 2005 – the mustache became a Henriquatre. In nine editions to date, he embodied the chief of police in Paradise, a small and seemingly quiet harbor town in New England, Massachusetts. He moved there after his divorce and discharge from drunkenness at the Los Angeles homicide department. But life in Paradise is not as heavenly and non-violent as Jesse Stone had hoped. The last episode "Lost in Paradise" was broadcast in 2015.

Selleck also plays a police chief and plays the leading role in a TV crime series. "Blue Bloods – Crime Scene New York" has been produced and broadcast since 2010.

He also likes weapons privately

Selleck also relies on weapons privately. He was even a board member of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and spokesman for the organization from 2003 to 2018 as the successor to actor Charlton Heston (1923-2008).

But his relationship life is relatively unspectacular. From 1970 to 1982 Selleck was married to the former US model Jacqueline Ray (67). She brought a son (born 1966) into the marriage; the actor adopted him. Selleck married for the second time in 1987, five years after the divorce. With his second wife, British actress Jillie Mack (62), he had daughter Hannah (31), a professional show jumper, in 1988. The couple has long lived on a 65-hectare avocado farm in Hidden Valley in Ventura County, California.
