Tonight, Hakim Jemili is back from the future! What is the satirical TV film In 5 Years worth to watch on Canal +?

This Wednesday evening, Canal + tells us what to expect for French society in five years thanks to Hakim Jemili and his original TV film broadcast at 9 p.m. We tell you what we thought of “In 5 years”.

What is it about ?

Following a typo in his name, Hakim Jemili (who plays himself here) is mistaken for someone else and is taken in his place by a mysterious organization to travel back in time and return them take into account what the future holds.

And when it doesn’t, it doesn’t: while his trip was planned for the year 2300, Hakim finally arrives… barely five years later.

Once the organization realizes its mistake, an employee is tasked with debriefing with Hakim what he learned from his time travel. The memory of the organization’s “travelers” cannot be erased for such a short trip, the challenge is to determine whether Hakim can, despite everything, return home or whether the organization must eliminate him. .

An interrogation which will offer the opportunity to discover that, against all expectations, the world can radically change in the space of just a few years.

Who is it with?

Three-star casting for this sketch TV film imagined and carried by Hakim Jemili (Valédé, Tapie). At his side, we find, on the one hand, many other comedians, like his wife Fadily Camara (Mytho, En place), Jamel Debbouze, Laura Felpin (Le flambeau, Asterix et Obélix: l’ Middle Empire), Roman Frayssinet (The Bad Guys, The SEGPA), Ragnar the Breton (A Stunning Christmas, Good Conduct), Alex Ramires (The Visitor from the Future, Are You Again?), Bertrand Usclat (Broute, Sam), or even Thomas VDB (Lazy company, Alexandra Ehle).

Multiple actresses and actors familiar to the general public are also in the cast of the TV film. This is the case, among others, of Melha Bédia (Strong, Miskina the poor), Camille Chamoux (The flame, Les randonneuses), Jérémie Dethelot (Avenir, Killer coaster), Alex Lutz (Catherine and Liliane, Guy), Julien Pestel (The Crazy Story of Max and Léon, The Stars), or Audrey Pirault (Martin Sex Welfare, Visitors).

It’s worth checking out ?

What will France look like at the end of the 2020s? A very clever person will be able to answer this question. Let us hope, in any case, that the years to come will be more favorable to satirical content such as In 5 years because, since the cessation of Information puppets in 2018, there are few programs which, apart from Groland (also broadcast on Canal +), have this nevertheless important ambition. In this, In 5 years carried an expectation.

An expectation finally fully satisfied. Culture, school, ecology, fake news, nationalism, new technologies, male-female relations, sport, police… A large number of themes are covered in barely an hour. Of the ten or so quality sketches offered, some particularly stand out, due to the finesse of the critical and comic outlook taken on our current society or the originality and credibility of the strong ideas found to address the different themes raised.

This is the case of the first sketch, which imagines a world where the State, aided by an algorithm, has come to assign, each year, two friends to each person, imposing, in the process, a whole bunch of rights and duties to keep these relationships alive until the end of the year.

Another example, a few sketches later, when we find Hakim who, once at the automatic checkout (with the voice of Jamel Debbouze) after doing his shopping, is confronted with France’s new national-ecological policy: in addition having closed all of its borders, the country now requires the purchase of two “Made in here” products for the purchase of a product of foreign origin.

Finally, we keep in mind the fifth sketch (with Alex Lutz) proposed in the form of a report for a television show and which is interested in “reality cinema”, the new trend in French cinema to face American blockbusters. Inspired by theater, social networks and the interest of a large part of the population in celebrity news, these new genre films offer the public the opportunity to witness scenes from the real lives of actors and of actresses.

And to think that we recognize in certain ideas the inspiration coming from real and recent events, there is sometimes reason to laugh, think… and freak out.

In 5 Years is a new TV film to be discovered this Wednesday January 3 at 9 p.m. on Canal +.
