In Bone Collector, Angelina Jolie, who has just signed on to once again play one of cinema’s most famous villains, plays Amelia Donaghy, a young police officer. She must help Lyncoln Rhyme (Denzel Washington), a former brilliant criminologist paralyzed for life following an accident who finds himself involved, despite himself, in a new murder case.
For the purposes of the investigation, Amelia becomes the eyes and legs of Lyncoln, who must at all costs examine every clue left by the assassin to be able to predict where and when the next crimes will occur…
Adapted from the novel The Boneur by Jeffery Deaver, Bone Collector, a thriller with a murky and sticky atmosphere prohibited to children under 12 when it was released in French cinemas, is directed by Australian Phillip Noyce. The latter, who had enjoyed great success with the thriller White Calm, directed by Nicole Kidman, also signed the action films War Games and Immediate Danger, in which Harrison Ford plays the famous character of Jack Ryan.
Speaking about the production of Bone Collector, Phillip Noyce said: “We shot with twice as many camera axes and angles as needed for a typical dialogue scene, so that when edited, the audience would have the impression of movement, simply because the camera always turns towards something new.”
Shunned by critics, the original thriller Bone Collector, on the other hand, met with great public success with 151 million dollars in revenue worldwide. Shortly after, with 60 Seconds and especially Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Angelina became an international star.
