Tonight on Netflix: the teenage series which offers a vision of the future that is not really encouraging

Who says CW says teenage series. However, add a dose of the end of the world and the law of the fittest and you get a series where survival is achieved by any means: we named “The 100”, the postapocalyptic, the ambitious, the ruthless.

Inventive and sensational, The 100 – which is one of the 10 best science fiction series to watch on Netflix according to AlloCiné viewers – challenges you from its first moments. Here, the stakes are vital and the tension is at its height.

Indeed, World War III took place and a man-made nuclear apocalypse destroyed our civilization. 318 survivors then took refuge in space stations where they managed to live and reproduce, reaching the number of 4000.

But 97 years later, the mother ship, called the Ark, is in poor condition and will not last much longer in orbit. A hundred young delinquents, imprisoned on the space station over the years for crimes and betrayals, are then chosen as guinea pigs to return to the devastated Earth and test the chances of survival. It’s a dangerous but also surprising new world that awaits them…

Jason Rothenberg’s series, loosely inspired by the young adult novels of the same name by Kass Morgan, pulls no punches. Visually ambitious, with its larger-than-life settings – especially for a teenage series broadcast on the CW – it captivated many spectators with the perilous and thrilling adventures of young Clarke (Eliza Taylor), Bellamy (Bob Morley), Finn (Thomas McDonell), Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos), Raven (Lindsey Morgan), Murphy (Richard Harmon) and the others, abandoned and left to fend for themselves in an unforgiving environment.

A group (to discover here) that is nevertheless determined and will quickly become ready to do anything to survive. Indeed, faced with complicated and sometimes even horrible decisions, it must be admitted, they will not be spared. On the program, deaths, betrayals and clashes in a true odyssey – with a new language invented for the occasion to learn if you dare!

Aimed at both adolescents and adults, The 100 has, like these series, dared to stage the end of the world: which it did with originality, wanting to be both futuristic and medieval, and even fantastic on the side. Large-scale science fiction like Battlestar Galactica, survival in a hostile environment with strange surprises like Lost and a hint of The Hunger Games for its merciless side, the bet is successful: 7 seasons and… 100 episodes, the loop is closed!

The 100created by Jason Rothenberg, with Eliza Taylor, Paige Turco, Bob Morley…
