This is also due to Chris Fedak’s script, which is based on (and thickens) that of Ambulancen by Laurits Munch-Petersen, of which it is the remake.
If the film provides the action and tension expected of a blockbuster signed by Michael Bay (Pearl Harbor, 13 Hours), there are also more unexpected and welcome moments such as the many drone shots that manage to go beyond the status of formal gimmick to truly expand the action and especially the speed of the chase.

Anecdotally, the space inside the ambulance was so cramped that Jake Gyllenhaal sometimes had to carry the camera himself, and Will Sharp’s name is inspired by that of Colonel Willie Sharp of Armageddon, also directed by Michael Bay and released in 1998.
The latter even winks at himself since during the film, Danny and Will talk about cinema and in particular about Bad Boys, directed by … Michael Bay!
