Tonight on TV: a gourmet comedy that went unnoticed

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Jean Reno and Michaël Youn in a “gastronomic” comedy.

In 2012, long before culinary competition shows invaded our television screens, director Daniel Cohen had the idea to look into the subject. In Like a Chef, he thus crosses paths with Jacky Bonnot, a 30-year-old amateur of haute cuisine dreaming of success, and the great starred chef Alexandre Lagarde.

Eager to see Jean Reno (and no one else!) put on the outfit of the latter, Daniel Cohen and the production team waited for the actor to be available to start the project. Surrounded by a real kitchen brigade, Jean Reno thus gives the reply to Michaël Youn, who moreover had the opportunity to take cooking lessons with the starred chef Alain Ducasse before filming. In addition, the actors benefited from the valuable advice of chefs Alain Passard and Pierre Gagnaire.

Rhythmed by the soundtrack of the Italian composer Nicola Piovani – oscar winner for La Vie est belle by Roberto Benigni – Comme un Chef therefore offers a duo of tasty actors for a comedy on French gastronomy.

Like a Chef by Daniel Cohen with Michaël Youn, Jean Reno, Raphaëlle Agogué…

Tonight on TFX at 9:05 p.m.
