Tonight on TV: a little B series, it’s ideal for a Sunday evening! And what’s more, if Zoe Saldana plays the main role…

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a perfect action film from the star of “Avatar”!

What if you spent your Sunday evening, snuggled up on your sofa, enjoying a good little action B series? If the program tempts you, then tune in to TFX, which broadcasts the very good Colombiana, carried by a badass Zoe Saldana!

Released in theaters in 2011, Colombian tells the story of Cataleya, who witnesses the murder of her parents in Colombia when she is only nine years old. Barely escaping the massacre, she takes refuge in the United States, with her uncle Emilio, a gangster. 15 years later, she works for him as a hitwoman, signing her murders with an orchid drawn on the chest of her victims: a message to her parents’ killers. Because Cataleya is determined to see her revenge through to the end… even if it means losing everyone she loves.

Old school action blockbuster, Colombian, written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, is damn effective entertainment. Action, rhythm, a heroine with incredible charisma… This perfectly packaged B series should seduce you!

“I wanted to make an action film like Jason Bourne but with a heroine”declares director Olivier Megaton. “I wanted to make a more serious and less cartoonish film than The Transporter III. Colombian was therefore ideal. It’s a sort of homage to Nikita And Leon. I wanted to explore and push the psychology of the main character to the extreme.”

A feminine Jason Bourne

The French director quickly thought of Zoe Saldanathe star of the Avatar saga (recently awarded an award at Cannes for her role in Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Perez), to play the heroine of Colombian. “I was looking for an actress who did not have too much cinematic experience because my film would necessarily have inherited it“, he notes. “Zoe was the best choice for me because we haven’t yet seen her fully exercise the full extent of her game on screen.”

One last argument to convince you to watch Colombian This evening ? The choreographer of the fights is the big name Alain Figlarz, who notably worked, excuse me, on The memory in the skinLargo Winch and The Pact of Wolves. “I wanted Alain to invent something with the accessories present in the decor, as he had done in The memory in the skinwhen Jason Bourne uses a simple pen as a deadly weapon”declares Olivier Megaton. “I also wanted a brutal, organic fight and not a super choreographed fight that would not be realistic either for the characters or for our current world.”

Tonight on TFX at 9:05 p.m.
