Tonight on TV: Before The Expendables, Jason Statham had already met Stallone

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Jason Statham in a film scripted by Sylvester Stallone.

Universum Film GmbH

For a time, Sylvester Stallone plans to adapt the novel by Chuck Logan, published in France under the title “Du feu sous la neige” in 2005, evoking in particular the fight against narcotics and in particular methamphetamine, as the fifth and last chapter of his Rambo saga. Indeed, the scenario of Last Blood is centered on the famous veteran of the Vietnam War investigating a drug cartel in Mexico after the kidnapping of the daughter of one of his friends… A pitch very similar to that of home front.

When Stallone takes over this project, he has in mind to interpret the main character himself. Finally, on the set of The Expendables 2: Special Victims Unit, he decides to offer his role to his playing partner Jason Statham, younger and fitter than him. home front is thus an opportunity for the actor to explore a new type of character: that of a vulnerable father, who dreams of putting his past as a DEA agent behind him to raise his daughter.

Directed by Gary Fleder, the film also keeps us spellbound thanks to its plot centered around methamphetamine manufacturers and bikers (including the very cinematic Chuck Zito, ex-member of the Hell’s Angels!) in the heart of a deep Louisiana that makes chilling, True Detective style. On AlloCine, home front holds an average viewer rating of 3.6 out of 5.

Homefront by Gary Fleder with Jason Statham, James Franco, Winona Ryder…
