Tonight on TV: Bradley Cooper takes pills that make you very intelligent… but there are side effects!

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Bradley Cooper uses his brain to the fullest in a little nugget of a thriller.

A writer tries a new drug supposed to increase intellectual faculties tenfold. He becomes famous thanks to the substance but, very quickly, side effects appear…

Not a bad pitch, right? If it has piqued your curiosity, then go to TFX this evening to discover the very original thriller hidden behind these few words: Limitless, led by Bradley Cooper!

Released in theaters in 2011, Limitless is the adaptation of the novel Fields of Darkness (The Dark Fields in VO) by Alan Glynn, a book which evokes the legend of the incomplete use of the brain.

The result on screen is truly entertaining: clever, playful, hectic, slightly amoral, slightly psychedelic, the film, in which Robert De Niro also stars, has all the assets to make you have an excellent evening.

“This kind of scientific finding is probably not that far from reality”

“The beginnings of the story might suggest that we are tending towards science fiction, but this kind of scientific discovery is probably not that far from reality”notes screenwriter Leslie Dixon, who wrote, among others, the stories of Madame Doubtfire and Freaky Friday.

“I am convinced that right now, researchers in laboratories are trying to develop products to develop intelligence, improve memory, cognitive functions and reflexes.”

“I wanted the story to be completely credible, to approach it as something real”completes director Neil Burger, to whom we owe the first part of the Divergent saga.

“And I also wanted to get inside Eddie’s head, show how he perceives the world when he’s under the influence of drugs, how he processes information and how he feels about being so intelligent. I had ideas for unusual visual techniques to show one’s perception of what surrounds one.”

Limitless had achieved great success in French cinemas with nearly 900,000 admissions. Tonight, you can discover this amazing thriller in your living room!

Tonight on TFX at 9:05 p.m.
