Tonight on TV: far from Indiana Jones, the feverish adventure in a masterful epic

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: an epic in the jungle by James Gray.

From 2009, James Gray plans to adapt the novel “The Lost City of Z” by David Grann, which has just been published in the United States.

The director wishes in particular to transcribe on screen the thirst for discovery of Percy Fawcett, one of the greatest explorers of the 20th century. However, the project has been postponed until 2016.

Leaving the urban jungle of New York for the first time for the Amazon, James Gray signs a formidable adventure story steeped in his favorite themes.

Shot in natural settings sublimated by the sumptuous photography of Darius Khondji, this obsessive quest which evokes both Kipling and Coppola, has an undeniable epic and poetic breath.

There shines a solid cast composed in the foreground of Charline Hunnam, as well as Sienna Miller, Tom Holland and an unrecognizable Robert Pattinson.

Want another TV tip for tonight? We recommend a nostalgic and touching Quebec nugget.
