Ducobu, third! After L’Élève Ducobu and Les Vacances de Ducobu, the famous dunce born in the early 90s in the Belgian comics and novels by Zidrou and Godi, returned to the big screen in 2020 with Ducobu 3.
For this new school year, a major rival is arriving at school: “TGV”, the king of cheating 2.0. As the financial situation of Saint-Potache becomes disastrous, the two dunces will have to unite their creativity to win a singing competition and save their establishment.
The comedy Ducobu 3, full of energy and visual gags, marks Elie Semoun’s first production for the big screen. But the Frenchman is not content with directing the film and reprising his character of Professor Latouche. He also plays Latouche’s mother and the teacher at the rival school.
“I love dressing up”he enthuses. “I would like to make a film in which I play all the characters, like Eddie Murphy In The Foldingue Family…”
Mathys Gros succeeds Vincent Claude and François Viette in the role of Ducobu. The one who is taking his first steps in comedy for the occasion was chosen from nearly 2000 boys. For Elie Semoun, it is about“a sensitive, mischievous child, very touching in life as on screen.”
Fan of Stanley Kubrick and Alfred Hitchcock, Elie Semoun slipped references into Ducobu 3 “very humble” to Shining and Psycho. “These are allusions that will make adults laugh, as was also the case in The Ice Age of which I did one of the voices”he notes. “But obviously, Ducobu 3 is intended for the youngest spectators and we must not forget that they see everything, capture everything…”
Finally, we note that Elie Semoun has this Ducobu in his skin since he also signed the fourth film in the saga, Ducobu Président!, released in 2022, and that he will also be at the helm of the fifth opus, Ducobu goes green , in theaters on April 3.
