Tonight on TV: it’s one of the best Harry Potter, but it’s missing this essential detail!

A key element of the Harry Potter universe is missing from “The Deathly Hallows – Part 1”, and this is the only film in the saga in which it is absent!

A Harry Potter film is above all wizard battles with magic wands, the Hogwarts Express, classes with more or less friendly teachers, references to Voldemort and a trio of endearing heroes, right? Well one of its elements is completely absent from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – part 1, broadcast this evening on TF1!

In this episode, rated 4 out of 5 on AlloCiné, Voldemort has gained power, to the point of having the Ministry of Magic in his pocket! In order to stop him, Harry, Ron and Hermione go in search of the last Horcruxes, which contain the different parts of the soul of He-whose-name-must-not-be-spoken. But Dumbledore disappeared and isolated, our heroes feel very alone…

This “part 1” explores more than usual the psyche in which the heroes of the saga find themselves. We are even treated to powerful arguments that the public had not really been accustomed to. Above all, their journey to find the Horcruxes takes them to new places and above all, the school being in the hands of Voldemort: Hogwarts is completely absent from the film!

The school being in the hands of the Dark Lord and his minions, it is impossible for the trio and their friends Neville or Luna to go to classes. Moreover, the wizarding world is at the point of falling into black magic and a darkest age: it is no longer time to go to class! Especially since only pure blood students are accepted.

But why TWO films for ONE book?

In the image, the school is only present in flashback in part 1, but we will see Hogwarts again in the second part of The Deathly Hallows. The public will be amazed to discover that the school will be partly destroyed during a huge battle!

As there is only volume 7 of the Harry Potter books, the production initially wanted a single film to conclude the story of the young wizards. But, the financial potential of releasing two films instead of one and the initial cut of nearly 4 hours 36 minutes was a narrative headache. Two good reasons to divide the conclusion into two feature films.

A good calculation, since part 1 will bring in 972 million and the second 1.3 billion dollars! Like a wave of a magic wand!
