Tonight on TV: Jean Dujardin recounts the joys of marriage

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: the wedding seen by Valérie Guignabodet.

Pan European Edition

For her second feature film, director Valérie Guignabodet draws her inspiration from “a second of profound lucidity and appalling sadness” (in her own words) that she experienced during a wedding ceremony. With Weddings!, she thus signs a cynical comedy with often disillusioned dialogues on the hesitations of newlyweds.

For the less heterogeneous, the cast brings together in the foreground Jean Dujardin (who then started in the cinema after being revealed by Un Gars, une Fille) and his favorite actress Mathilde Seigner, who embody the couple of witnesses of the bride and groom, but also Michel Lagueyrie , Catherine Allegret, Simon Astier, Antoine Duléry, Lio or even Miou-Miou.

Supported by the soundtrack of the specialist in French variety of the 80s and 90s Fabrice Aboulker (he notably composed the great successes of Marc Lavoine), Mariages! therefore features a crowd of firmly established characters.

When it was released in 2004, the film attracted more than 2 million cinema viewers. In the same vein, Valérie Guignabodet will direct Divorces five years later, carried by François-Xavier Demaison and Pascale Arbillot.
