After her very first production, Monster, which earned an Oscar for Charlize Theron, Patty Jenkins signs with Wonder Woman her second feature film for the big screen. A blockbuster that will redefine the place of women in cinema – in front of and behind the camera.
It all starts when a pilot crashes on the isolated island where the Amazonian princess Diana lives and tells her that a war is raging in the world. Diana, an extraordinary warrior, then decides to leave her protected native land, determined to put an end to this terrible conflict: a certain First World War that she thinks was started by the enemy of her people, Ares. Embarked on a whole new ravaged world, she will soon discover the full extent of her powers as well as her true destiny.
While her sidekicks Superman and Batman have appeared on the big screen since the 1940s, it wasn’t until 2014 that Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince, made her film debut: first with a cameo in The Lego Great Adventure and then in live action (played by Gal Gadot) in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016.
The following year, she finally made her solo debut with a film that was recognized for its cultural significance and praised for its direction, performances, visuals, story, action sequences and music.
