Tonight on TV: the director of LOL once again captures the spirit of the times

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: the mother-daughter relationship seen by Lisa Azuelos.

After an early career in the world of finance, Lisa Azuelos reconverted as a film director. An environment where she meets the future father of her three children: Carmen, Ilan and Thaïs.

In 2009, LOL, his third feature film, was a major commercial success, attracting 3.6 million cinema viewers. Worn by Sophie Marceau and Christa Théret, it is inspired by the personal experience of the director with her eldest child who has become a teenager, and thus deals with mother-daughter relationships with accuracy.

Ten years later, Lisa Azuelos signs a new variation of this theme with Mon Bébé. Also drawn from her experience, the film features Héloïse, a single mother of three children, who is struggling to come to terms with the imminent departure of her youngest child for Canada. She is also his real youngest daughter, Thais Alessandrinwho interprets this character on the screen.

Facing her, Sandrine Kiberlain excels in the role of the disoriented mother (probably because she recognizes herself in it a little, at the time when her own daughter is about to take flight). The actress is thus rewarded with the Prize for female interpretation at the Comedy Festival of Alpe d’Huez.

My baby by Lisa Azuelos with Sandrine Kiberlain, Thaïs Alessandrin, Victor Belmondo…
