Tonight on TV: the most radical French film since… Grave

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: a historic Palme d’Or for Julia Ducournau…

Carole Bethuel

After Grave, her shocking first film released in 2016, which was very well received and received six César nominations, French director Julia Ducournau continues to make an impression with her second feature film, which is even more transgressive and radical. Hybrid work, visceral, sometimes funny, Titanium imposes itself as THE slap of the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

While French genre cinema often falls by the wayside when it comes to honors, Julia Ducournau made an exception by winning the prestigious Palme d’Or, awarded by Spike Lee, the president of the jury. She thus becomes the second woman to receive this prestigious prize after Jane Campion and her Piano lesson in 1993.

Titanium by Julia Ducournau with Vincent Lindon, Agathe Rousselle, Garance Marillier…

Tonight on CANAL+ at 9 p.m.
