Tonight on TV: The movie that really got us addicted to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: the second part of the “Harry Potter” saga.

Released shortly before Christmas 2001, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, adapted from the eponymous novel by JK Rowling, enchanted critics and audiences, grossing $974 million at the worldwide box office.

Barely three days after its release, the filming of the second part of the saga, entitled Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, has started, with Chris Colombus back behind the camera. The film was released on screens in 2002, crowned with the same success as its predecessor, with nearly 900 million dollars in worldwide receipts and more than 9 million admissions in France.

If Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone essentially serves as an introduction (setting up the protagonists and the magical universe), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets this time plunges the viewer directly into the heart of the story, in the occurrence by the sensational arrival of Dobby, the house elf, at the Dursleys, who has come to warn the hero of a threat hanging over Hogwarts.

From then on, the feature film is part of a darker, more intense and more rhythmic vein, the apotheosis of which takes place within the famous chamber of secrets, a central and mysterious room which turns out to be the most imposing of the whole saga (76 meters long and 36.5 meters wide!).

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by Chris Columbus with Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson…

Tonight on TF1 at 9:10 p.m.
