Tonight on TV: the reunion of the Depardieu / Pierre Richard duo after La Chèvre

Every day, AlloCiné recommends a film to (re)watch on TV. Tonight: Gérard Depardieu teaches the art of headbutting to Pierre Richard.

“We take the same and start again”. With 7 million admissions generated by La Chèvre when it was released in 1981, Francis Veber reformed his main duo – Gérard Depardieu and Pierre Richard -, two years later, in his new tandem comedy Les Compères. Here, their characters go in search of Tristan Martin (Stéphane Bierry), a 17-year-old teenager on the run, whose mother Christine (Anny Duperey) leads them to believe that they may be his father.

Once again, the film is based on the rhythm imposed by the perfectionist filmmaker, but also and above all on the perfect alchemy of the two headliners. We highlight a few particularly tasty moments, such as the one where Gérard Depardieu (nominated for the César for Best Actor for his performance) teaches the art of headbutting to Pierre Richard.

Although it achieved a lower score than its predecessor at the box office, totaling 4.8 million admissions, Freinds ranks fourth among the most viewed films in France in 1983. Nearly 15 years later, it was the subject of an American remake, Funny Fathers, directed by Ivan Reitman, in which Robin Williams and Billy Crystal reprise the lead roles.

Freinds by Francis Veber with Pierre Richard, Gérard Depardieu, Anny Duperey…
