Annie Castillon is happy. Her married life with Laurent is an example of harmony. His two grown-ups, Maximilien and César, are brilliant and sensitive boys. And Poupi, his young teenager, supports him without ever complaining in the education of Antoine, the youngest. But on a weekend like any other, the discovery of a positive pregnancy test in the bathroom will disrupt the beautiful harmony.
This pitch is that of the delicious comedy Le Test, released in theaters in 2021. A film (one of those whose pitches can be summed up in a single word) as funny as it is moving and carried by a formidable Alexandra Lamy. Sensitive, fresh, modern, rhythmic, intelligent, this Test with tasty dialogues is a little joy that will make you have an excellent evening.
The test rests on a mother who carries her entire family on her shoulders. A strong woman who loves her people so much that she sometimes takes control of their lives without really realizing it. “She is a mother who has a lot of demands and ambitions for her children and puts a lot of pressure on them”explains director Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud, who wanted to avoid caricature at all costs.
“But if she is sometimes intrusive, or clumsy, she is lucid and immediately blames herself”he adds. “Annie is full of contradictions. We discover her at a moment in her life when her children are starting to have a private life. Her elders no longer need their mother, or at least that’s what they think.
