Deep in the Australian bush, while trying to save a golden eagle trapped in a net, little Cody is kidnapped by poacher Perceval McLeach.
In order to help him, on the other side of the world, the SOS Society has already chosen its two best agents: the mice Bernard and Bianca, who have already proven their valor in the past, but who currently share a romantic candlelit dinner in an elegant New York restaurant.
The dawn of a new golden age
We are at the very beginning of the 90s. Disney artists have just struck a big blow by releasing The Little Mermaid, and everyone can sense that something great is being prepared in the studio’s workshops, that a new legendary chapter is about to be written.
While future classics such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King were meticulously crafted, in 1991, the enchanted company unveiled the very first animated sequel in its history: Bernard and Bianca in the Land of the Kangaroos.
Without reaching the perfection of the films that followed it, this new Australian adventure for our two favorite mice nevertheless displays undeniable qualities, and in particular a convincing use of computer-generated images which are very effectively integrated into the traditional animation of the feature film (four years before Toy Story, Pixar artists were already working miracles at Disney).

A breathtaking introductory scene
But the major asset of the film, without the slightest doubt, lies in its exceptional introductory sequence, which we would even assume ranks among the greatest scenes in the history of enchanted studios.
Even before Bernard and Bianca intervene in the feature film, the powerful and wild flight of the Marahute eagle carrying little Cody on its back, enhanced by a magnificent original soundtrack and high-quality animation, has something to look forward to. give shivers of happiness to any Disney fan.
Beauty, power, emotion, magic…: in this single sequence all the essential ingredients that will make the studio successful in the decade to come are already gathered.
