Tony Bennett is dead. Several media report this unanimously. The “master of pop music” died at the age of 96.

As reported by “The Guardian” and “Variety”, among others, is Tony Bennett passed away at the age of 96. His spokesman has confirmed the sad news. Bennett passed away in New York on July 21, 2023.

In 2020 it was revealed that he had already been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016. He himself wrote on Twitter: “Life is a gift – even with Alzheimer’s.” Bennett continued to perform until 2021, including alongside Lady Gaga, 37.

In a career spanning more than seven decades, Bennett has won 18 Grammys, among others. He became internationally known with songs like “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” and “Fly Me To The Moon”. His work in the pop, big band and jazz genres made him popular with his fans and music lovers for decades.

In 2014, Bennett recorded Cheek to Cheek with Lady Gaga, for which they both sang jazz standards. The album went to number one in the US – making Tony Bennett the oldest living artist to celebrate that success. Now the music industry has to say goodbye to one of its greatest.
