Too bad, Lucid is already increasing its prices: at what price will the cars arrive in Europe?


Inevitably, a price announced in 2020 could hardly continue without an increase in 2022. Lucid has just announced an increase in its prices for several of its versions from June 1, 2022.

Taking advantage of the announcement of its commercial and financial results for the first quarter, Lucid announced a price increase for several versions of its Lucid Air. The competitor of the Tesla Model S will be increased by 10% of its selling price, bad news for those who were impatiently awaiting the arrival of the Lucid Air in Europe.

10 to 13% increase depending on the finish

The CEO of Lucid immediately sought to reassure those who have already ordered a Lucid Air: “The world has changed dramatically since we first announced Lucid Air prices in September 2020, but I want to reassure our existing booking holders that we will honor current prices for them as well as any new bookings made before the end of the month. »

Reservations in progress will not be affected by the increase in advertised prices. Only new orders made from 1and June 2022 will be. The CEO of Lucid wanted to avoid the same disappointment as Rivian, who had announced a retroactive increase in rates for current reservations, before the CEO of Rivian finally backed down in front of the revolt of the customers concerned.

For Lucid, the new prices for the different finishes break down as follows:

  • Air Pure goes from $77,400 to $87,400 (+13%)
  • Air Touring goes from $95,000 to $107,400 (+13%)
  • Air Grand Touring goes from $139,000 to $154,000 (+10%)

On the other hand, for Europeans who were impatiently awaiting the arrival of the new brand, it’s a cold shower. It is unlikely to see the entry-level Lucid Air Pure arrive at less than €95,000 for France (once VAT is added).

An arrival in Europe in the summer

According to Autocar.co.uk, Lucid has confirmed that it plans to begin its European expansion this summer. In all likelihood, its first point of sale should be in Germany. Then the brand hopes to quickly develop in other countries: in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Monaco, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and very important Norway, where electric vehicles dominate sales.

France was not mentioned in the first countries targeted, but it is not to be excluded that the brand will be established by the end of the year.
