Too Much Sushi: This Side Effect Shocks the Emergency Room – Video

After enjoying sushi every day, a man had to go to hospital with a nasty "surprise" – how can we protect ourselves from a similar fate? In the video you can see how he fared!

Sushi is so popular that in many areas it has even ousted burgers, pizza and kebab from the top spot in fast food. No wonder: after all, every bite is a delight when the sushi chef knows his trade. And that's exactly where a big problem lurks: cheap or poorly produced sushi can be dangerous. A man in California who had previously consumed at least one serving of sushi a day had to experience this: he managed to shock even the toughest doctors in the emergency room with his problem (you can see the whole, unbelievable story in the video).

Dangerous sushi: what should I watch out for?

Fortunately, the vast majority of sushi restaurants are very careful when preparing them, so the risk is manageable. Nevertheless, you should definitely pay attention to these points:

  • "All you can eat sushi"? Run as fast as you can! Basically, if sushi is being sold at low prices, caution is advised. Especially on Mondays you should avoid "all you can eat" – there the leftovers from the weekend are often quickly disposed of. With raw fish, if in doubt, you should pay one euro more before you too have to suffer the fate of the video!
  • Asked if the fish was frozen: Paradoxically, in the case of sushi, you would prefer fish that has been frozen before. Good sushi restaurants let their fish "flash freeze" briefly to kill germs and parasites.
  • More wasabi: In addition to its taste, the spicy Japanese radish has a very pragmatic side effect: it kills any parasites in the fish's body that have got lost in your food. So: Better a touch more if you can handle the heat!
  • When in doubt: tuna! Bad for dolphins, but good for you: Compared to other types of fish, tuna is rarely contaminated with germs or parasites, so the risk is particularly low. Another advantage: It also tastes damn good.
