Top 10 final at the CHI Geneva – Guerdat triumphs at the class meeting of the best – sport

  • Steve Guerdat wins the top 10 final of the best show jumpers for the third time after 2010 and 2018.
  • At the CHI Geneva, the Jurassic rider remained faultless twice on Venard de Cerisy.
  • Martin Fuchs takes 5th place on Conner Jei.

European champion Steve Guerdat also performed well at the CHI Geneva. In the top ten final of the best riders in the world rankings, which was worth over 500,000 francs, he came out on top on Venard de Cerisy.

The Jurassic rider won the prestigious event for the third time, which is a record. The now 41-year-old won on Jalisca Solier in 2010 and on Alamo in 2018. On Sunday in the Grand Prix, Guerdat will ride the mare Dynamix, who carried him to European Championship gold.

Fuchs also in the top 5

Three couples got off to a flawless start on a course that presented three obstacles with the maximum permitted height of 1.65 m and also presented a number of other difficulties. Out of the trio with Guerdat, the defending champion and world number one Henrik von Eckermann from Sweden and the substitute Shane Sweetman from Ireland, the Swiss prevailed in the second round because he was the only one to show two error-free rounds.

Martin Fuchs in the saddle of Conner Jei took 5th place. The Zurich man was on the defensive after the first round and eight penalty points. The second round went perfectly – a flawless ride plus a top time. Fuchs qualified for this event for the fifth time and equaled his best result.

Competition with a lot of prestige

The top ten final in the Palexpo exhibition center brings together the best ten riders in the world rankings. The event enjoys a high status among the active participants – and not just because of the lavish endowment and the exclusive line-up. This test is organized every year by the International Jumping Riders Club (IJRC), the association of show jumpers.
