Top 14: “I put my wardrobe on my back”, reveals Urios (Bordeaux-Bègles)

Christophe Urios (manager of Bordeaux-Bègles, winner of Racing 92): “We took half time to get started, we were a little tense, normal, we were quite imprecise, which prevented us from finding confidence more quickly. In the 2nd half, it was better. We didn’t get lost when we took this try before half-time. We were dominant in the 1st half but we couldn’t start the game, hold the ball, we were impatient. But it’s logical given the week we had spent, the pressure of the match. Max (Lucu) was good during the week, he brought this rebellion, he was able to federate around him, to bring the guys behind him. He was very good at taking responsibility and excellent in the game on initiatives, very clean in defensive footwork. This week, I took an incredible risk because we had to revolt. I put my locker room on my back, it was a first. I had never had to coach a group like that, I’m learning. For three months, there have been so many broken promises. Today, we just restored a truth. We are at the same level as last year, that is to say in the semi-finals“.
