Top 15 in Weihai – Triathlete Leon Pauger sent a strong signal

Leon Pauger from Bregenz landed a strong eleventh place on his World Cup comeback in Weihai (Chn). In doing so, he took a step towards qualifying for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (Fra).

After Ländle triathlete Leon Pauger had to look back on rather mixed results this year, the Bregenzer gave a strong sign of life at the World Cup station in Weihai (Chn) over the Olympic distance. With eleventh place, he equaled his previous record (Karlsbad/2022). Pauger came out of the water as a strong third. “I felt great there, I was also there on the bike,” says Pauger, “but running would have been better, I lost a lot of time there. Otherwise the top six would have been in there as well.” Nevertheless, he can be happy about the result. First, his form curve is clearly pointing upwards again. And secondly, he also collected good points to qualify for next summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. “I can take a lot of positive things with me from China. And of course it was very important for the Olympic qualification,” said Pauger, for whom another top 15 result should be enough.
