Thirteen years after the film adaptation with Anne Hathaway, David Nicholls’ famous novel is brought up to date thanks to a new serial iteration. The romance between Emma (Ambika Mod) and Dexter (Leo Woodall) told over twenty years and fourteen episodes in One Day completely upset Netflix subscribers. Between its brilliant writing, its impeccable duo of actors and its authentic atmosphere, the series had everything to be a success.

Why does it work?
Season 1, released three years ago, was a great success, to the point of convincing its creator, who had only signed for a mini-series, to work on a season 2. AlRawabi high school is opening its doors again and welcomes new students. A choice that was not to everyone’s taste. That didn’t stop this Jordanian drama from being second in the rankings a few days after its release.
Number 3: House of Ninjas

Why does it work?
Netflix is increasingly developing its Japanese productions. This starts from a very good idea: imagine that ninjas still exist in modern Japan. Ninjas have always been an object of fascination, and there are countless great ninja films that have created a particularly cinematic subgenre. As a bonus, House of Ninjas mixes action scenes and suspense. It was enough to enter directly into the top in third place.
Number 4: Raël: The prophet of extraterrestrials

Raël’s story is being rediscovered by younger generations and his crazy story of cloning and aliens can only delight fans of Netflix documentaries which have brought the genre up to date.
Number 5: Griselda
