Top Chef 2022: why did Lilian Douchet leave the competition?

Incredible twist in Top chef. This Wednesday, April 13, M6 is broadcasting the ninth week of its prestigious culinary competition. An episode marked by the big comeback of Adrien Cachot. An emblematic candidate for season 11, the chef is promoted to guest juror. The eight candidates still in the running are indeed surprised to discover that he has concocted a test in his image, that is to say atypical (but which will not surprise fans of the program): make a dish with offal. But this is not the only surprise that the candidates had. They were able to note the absence of one of their own. Yet qualified the previous week, Lilian Douchet decided to draw a line under his adventure, as revealed by Stéphane Rotenberg at the start of the program. “For this ninth week of competition, in the purple brigade of Paul Pairet, Lilian had to stop the competition for personal reasons“, simply announces the host of M6. The main interested party has meanwhile did not wish to detail or express himself on the reasons for his hasty departure.

Against all odds, Paul Pairet’s team is not leaving with one less candidate. Lilian Douchet was “replaced by the last outgoing, as provided for in the rules“, he assures. It is therefore Wilfried Romain who has the possibility of a second chance. A great joy for the young man who was eliminated on a single bite. Last week, Hélène Darroze faced a terrible last chance, since two of her three cooks found themselves face-to-face. Worse still, they had only one bite to convince their squad leader. After a difficult choice, Hélène Darroze had favored the realization of Louise to that of Wilfried, eliminating it as a result. Finally – and he was undoubtedly the first surprised -, Wilfried has not said his last word. The abandonment of Lilian is profitable to him. It’s not the first time that Top chef experiences such a twist – even though the circumstances were very different. A candidate from the third edition – won by Jean Imbert – has decided togive up on the second episode. Nevertheless, they had warned Mehdi Kebboul about the level of his achievements.
