A few days ago, when it took the lead at the French box office, Top Gun: Maverick only needed a few million dollars to do the same on American soil. It is now done. And with 401,831,621 greenbacks to date, Joseph Kosinski’s film is the biggest hit of 2022 in the United States.
Released on May 27 across the Atlantic, the sequel to Top Gun took the measure of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Batman. And it is now the second biggest hit in American theaters since the start of the pandemic, behind a Spider-Man No Way Home which seems untouchable with its 572,984,769 dollars.
Next step for Maverick, which establishes its status as Tom Cruise’s biggest hit in the United States a little more: to overtake the first part at the French box office, which may already have been done. And maybe more ? At the moment, the 931,669,028 greenbacks collected worldwide by Doctor Strange 2 seem beyond the reach of this new Top Gun, the accumulation of which is not “that” of 755,531,621.

Anyway, Tom Cruise’s bet is more than successful.
